James Leitch is a passionate and experienced instructor teaching private music and guitar lessons online and in the Baltimore area since 2009.
Serving kids and adults of all ages, beginners, intermediate, and advanced players, James has experience teaching in many situations, including his home studio, virtual lessons, and Baltimore City Public Schools, as well students with diverse interests and goals -- from folk singer/songwriters to university audition prep. With well-rounded proficiency in a diverse range of guitar styles taught, including electric, acoustic, classical, blues, jazz, and rock, James works with every student to discover their unique musical voice.

About James
About me:
I started teaching private guitar lessons in while I was a music student at CCBC Essex. I transferred to Towson University in 2010, where I performed in master classes with David Russell and Roland Dyens, and won three scholarship prizes for guitar performance.
In 2014, I graduated from Towson University with a BS in Music Education and taught general music, guitar classes, and directed choir for 5 years in Baltimore City Public Schools. I maintained my private lessons studio during this time as well, and am dedicated to teaching students of all ages, backgrounds, musical interests, and levels of ability how to express themselves with the guitar.
Since 2020, I have been teaching guitar, ukulele, and music lessons using online platforms like Zoom and Skype, and I have found great successes with my students using this technology.
